BatchFile Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 As it's the holidays, I need to move the ZoneDirector from its test position on my desk into the server room. Unfortunately, the PE dept have got a load of kids in doing BTEC coursework on laptops:rolleyes: needless to say they didn't think to tell me... but anyway What I need to know is: Do the APs stop working when I unplug the ZoneDirector ? My guess is that they'll carry on regardless but I just need confirmation cos I'm a chicken. Cheers!
adurrant Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Yes I will kill the AP's! Make sure you have the VLAN's all setup before you move it to the new ports! Should only be out for a few mins while you run to the new location! Adam 1
BatchFile Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Yes I will kill the AP's! Good job I checked then! Make sure you have the VLAN's all setup before you move it to the new ports! I haven't got any set up yet, just an ordinary WLAN for now Should only be out for a few mins while you run to the new location! Adam It's only just across the corridor... but I'll make sure there's a patch lead and Power socket ready first, if that's the case!
featured_spectre Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 As above it will stop the APs from broadcasting, however the Zone Director WILL remember your settings (I have moved mine twice and its done the job nicely still), and its to move a 3rd time this afternoon to my server cab in my new room! It doesn't take long to boot up so you should be good to go without any hitches, just let them know it will be down during break / lunch for about 10-15 mins. 1
