Epson EB-450WI - Screen Surface Suggestions

Hi,

 

We use SMARTBoard 580/680i boards throughout the school, but for a current project we are going to be purchasing a Epson EB-450WI projector (after seeing it in action at the BETT show).

 

Is anyone else using the model of projector?

 

The only reason i ask, is in relation to what surface you project the image onto?

 

A painted (white matt emulsion) wall? or wipe board (too shiney?) etc

 

In one of the Epson leaflets obtained during the BETT Show ("brighter education for a brighter future"), on page 03 it shows the image being projected onto a board similar to a white board.

 

Any feedback would be appreciated,

We use them and project onto the existing (not interactive) whiteboard. There is no reflection issue due to the angle of the light and the smooth surface of the whiteboard works really well with the Epson pen.

 

Personally I see no reason to ever buy another interactive whiteboard again (except if you really must have touch sensitivity).

Do you use them with the SMARTBoard software installed as well?

 

I know it requires it's own software for the pen etc, but as our staff currently use the SMART / Notebook software etc, alot of their resources on in SMART Notebook.

Couldn't comment on that as we don't have Smartboards. However I am reliably informed that the Smart software works, assuming you have the licences to install it.

one final question, what size / model / supplier of whiteboard did you use?

We were using RM Classboards of varying sizes.

Aren't RM Classboards interactive whiteboards? i thought the image was being projected onto generic wipe boards?

We are using the EB-450wi's in rooms which don't have Classboards, not replacing them, so the image is being projected onto standard old-fashioned white boards rather than electronic interactive whiteboards (Classboards / Smartboards etc).

we have one, is brilliant, just using it on a standard whiteboard projecting around about 90inch's

and yes, you can use smart software I believe
