I'm trying to deploy CS4. So far I've coppied the DVDs onto our server, merging the Payloads and Extensions folders from the two discs.

I then created a deployment with CD4 deployment toolkit. The AdobeUberInstall works fine except it doesn't install inDesign.

I'm assuming this is because InDesign is from the second DVD and I need to edit something so the installer expects to find all the installation files in the same location.

Now I'm sure the adobe instructions will tell me how to do this, but sadly whoever wrote them was obviously being paid by the word. Because there is no other explanation why the instrctions should be in 5 documents running over 50 pages each.

Anyone already been through this?

Are there actual Adobe instructions for this as when we have spoken to them regarding any network issues they have always said they suggest Adobe be installed locally on each machine and that they do not suggest or support networking CS4......

P.s. Isnt the entire CS4 package 16gb....is that too big to deploy over the network to multiple PC's? (i dont know as we ended up creating an image and ghosting).

Adobe Creative Suite 4 - Adobe Developer Connection

Obviously it would be installed on every machine and not ran from a share, but doing a manual deployment on each machine is not an option we're looking at over 100 workstations.

You'll probably have more luck doing it with AutoIt or something similar, Adobe unattended installs with CS4 were a nightmare for us and we ended up doing it with NetSupport School and just entering the serials manually

Anything missing thats marked as install?

Posted

I've got this sorted.

There were some files missing from Payloads\AdobeInDesign6AppBase-mul.

I suspect the folder exists on both discs but on disk 1 doesn't hold the full install files. In my haste I didn't merge the folders when copying the disks over to my server.
