dhicks Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Hello All, Does anyone have a network install of Adobe CS3 where Photoshop has its default scratch disk location set to something other than the default? We have a bunch of machines that are now starting to complain that their scratch disks are full, which is annoying as they actually have proper separate harddrives and everything ready for them to use as scratch disks. I can't find anything in the Adobe CS3 Deployment Guide that say anything about modifying scratch disk locations at install time, and after looking through the MSI/MST files in the "payloads" folder on our network software install share I can't see anything obvious, either. Has anyone else had to solve this problem? How did you do it? Is there an option you can set in one of those Adobe XML files scattered all over the install directory? Can I edit an MSI/MST field? Or is the only option to use AutoIt after install to open up Photoshop and "manually" set the scratch disk option? -- David Hicks

For this, or any other settings-related issue, has anyone tried copying over C:\Documents and Settings\administrator\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.psp with a .psp file from a machine set up as you wanted? -- David Hicks

Which I suddenly realise is, of course, a per-user setting, so that's going to be a bit of a bother to sort out... We don't have mandatory profiles set up, My Documents and Desktop folders are redirected to a network share but not Documents and Settings, so there's no really practical way to copy setup files over to user profiles. The scratch disk location doesn't seem to be set by a registry key that I can find (anyone know different?), I'm guessing it's stored in one of those .psp files. -- David Hicks
RTFM Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 We use CS4 and just always leave the scratch disk to default. We just make sure that the users arent setting the save location to the UNC path but instead set it to :\\folder CS4 seems to work fine when this is done. Dunno if that helps or not with what you were asking.........:confused:
