I've recently installed Exchange on to a new server, which went a lot better than I thought it would. However, I have since upgraded to SP2 which has now stopped me being able to send any e-mails.

When an e-mail is sent to an external address we get the following message:-

"The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

external email address on 10/11/2006 12:05

You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator.

<server.domain.local #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 This system is configured to reject spoofed sender addresses>

If anyone else has come across this and sorted it please let me know. I'd rather not have to remove and re-install exchange.

Thanks for the reply Geoff. I have tried various combinations, but still no sent emails. I'm assuming that it's because the mails are filtered via the LEA or county first. I'll just have to bite the bullet and do a re-install of exchange without SP2 - unless there's an easy way of removing the service pack. I can't seem to find one.

Thanks again for your help.

You need to change the FQDN of the defualt smtp virtual server.

In the exchnage manager do the following:

expand servers

expand the server

click protocols

click SMTP

right Click default SMTP virtual server

slecet the delivery tab

click advanced

set the FQDN eg smtp.mydomain.sch.uk

Thanks djm, I'll give that a go. Unfortunately, by the time I got your message I'd given up hope and re-installed Exchange but this time only on SP1 - but it's still doing the same - can receive but not send. COuld it be an issue at the central 'county' level?
