joshjacklin Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Hello there, the school I work at are looking for a network management solution, I have heard of Ranger but I have heard that its is about £7000 to implement, and on another thread someone commented on they recommended Impero, I am wondering if theres any others that people can recommend to us, from open source all the way ujp to specialist application, however money is tight at the moment and ranger is a push to get the people in the high office to get out there pen for the order form. Thank you very much JoshJacklin:cool:
kmount Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Can you tell us a bit more about your network, number of stations, variety of applications/roles, what limitations are forcing your hand to take action etc? It may be that the money is better spent on training and a vanilla set up continues to be the way forward.
steveo2000 Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 both products are fantastic as far as i'm concerned, at are school we're hoping to use both. Ive had Ranger installed and i dont think its as expensive as £7000! I would only however go for the Ranger for Networks side of things as the other parts like print manager etc are not really used here. Its kind of like a very simple and easy to use Active Directory making applying polices etc really easy. Impero does a heck of a lot more and makes the network more secure im just waiting on Impero 3 to be out properly before getting it. I would say if your happy using AD to add users and make polices etc then get Impero if not get Ranger. To give you an idea we have a quote for Impero for 300 machines for about £2700 and I dont think Rangers much more!
joshjacklin Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 ahh I see thank you, I might give the 30 day trial ago of it, it looks good my boss raves about ranger we shall soon see as harry hill puts it, hmmm im undecided about Ranger or maybe Impero which is better? theres only one way to find out!! FIGHTTTTTTTTTT! haha.
