HMCTech Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Just wondering what template people are starting from when they create the first site collection? I am not sure if I like the publishing portal, but dont think I want a team site as my top level.
busby Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I have been given the task to look into Sharepoint. I myself have no knowledge of this so any comments on this would be greatly recieved. Sorry to jump on this thread but seems a good thread to learn from. cheers chris
tom_uk Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) We use a customized team site, screenshot. Edited March 5, 2010 by tom_uk Broken Link
zag Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 That image is blank. I'm also interested in this, I think it gets released with the new office 2010 in june some time.
alfatec Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Have got Sharepoint 2010 running in full flow. Implemented online office web apps which I think is very good. Capability to alter themes on the fly is nice but seems abit lenthy. Overall it looks and feels very nice. Again the main reason that I would upgrade is solely for the online office web apps.
bandgeekmafia78 Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 We currently have MOSS 2007 but we're thinking of upgrading to 2010 after we had a demo last week. It looks really good, much easier to use that 2007 by all accounts. However, I've just heard that there is going to be an adapted version of SharePoint 2010 next year which is aimed at the Education sector. Apparently it is codenamed ULARU (?) so we might hang fire for this version to come out. If anyone knows about this ULARU please share!
Ian_CUP Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) here is is a blog that touches on MS's ULURU: Changing the game?: Microsoft, Moodle & Ayers Rock I cannot vouch for its validity in that it is not my blog but the guy who writes it has a lot of experience and knowledge in these matters, - and it might be of use to you guys. zag Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) Just some screens from our install that went live today. Tried to get it working for touchscreens as well as a couple of teachers are messing with ipads in the last few days. Edited May 28, 2010 by zag Updated with some more screens 2
maark Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Site looks really good - did you do a fresh install of 2010 or an upgrade?
zag Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Fresh install, no way I'm migrating all that data Just going to run them in parallel for a year or so.

I saw it last year and it looked promising from what I saw. Can't say much more, still under NDA as far as I'm aware.
vikpaw Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 @zag - looks cool. is that based on a built in template? i like the sim card -esque buttons. is that MLH you have for the helpdesk? really cool. we've yet to install sharepoint and mlh, but hoping to do it over the summer.
zag Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I made the buttons myself, they are designed for touchscreens hopefully in the future. The helpdesk is my own creation, its pretty simple and opensource available in my signature.
richkeys Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Love the look of this - Room Booking a graet idea. How is it going after a months? Thinking of a similar thing myself
zag Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) We actually use another open source system for room bookings now. Its BookIT by high-tower on these forums. Edited March 20, 2012 by zag
