Sibelus and admit for mac

Hi Guys

 

After spending a good amount of money on the music departement, so they can have a brand new shiny mac suite and sibelius. However it doesnt work, a quick call to sibelius themseleves reveals that they dont support active directory on windows or through admit for mac. It appears that a local user is the only way to go, however with a shared account is there anyway to create a script in which they can enter thier AD user name and password and then mount thier network share.

What doesn't work about it?

We have the network version of Sibelius (5?) on Windows and part of the installation involved setting up a lisence server on one of our machines so that we don't load up and use more copies than we're lisenced for.

 

We'd previously had difficulties with the standalone version (although I can't remember what) so maybe this is part of your problem?

 

If you want to use a script method, I wrote an app with the Apple Script Tool, that I saved as an app. You can lift the logged in user name there, then just request the users' password (saving lovely pupils connecting to other pupils' accounts). I'll hunt around for how I did it.

 

EDIT: Can't find how I got the logged in users' name (pretty sure Google will have told me, so it'll be easily rediscovered), but I do have a script that will mount shares based on provided information if you need a hand.

In applescript I did something similar, it's a bit shoddy & specific to us... it works for us and IS connected to AD, you would need to change the whoami to a inputbox to get username:

Thanks guys now have the issue sorted using a version of the script from above:)

You can still use AD login, but just force a local home folder, i look after many sites running Sibelius and many utilize AD and full network homes without problems
