installing FMS on 2008R2 Terminal Server

Is this possible? our connected primary school wishes to use FMS from their terminal session (sims works) but it currently doesnt work, i'm guessing that's because it is a 16bit app and R2 doesnt support 16bit....is there any workaround for this?...they also want to be able to print straight to their local printer from FMS..

 

any help would be greatly appreciated, and this is a fairly urgent request for help...

 

by the way, capita didnt seem to know much about this...

It wont work on 2008 R2 due to the same issues with Windiws 7.. we've had to either use Windwos 2003 or 2008 if using FMS until Capita release a version of FMS wiith Win7 support

I get the error 'The procedure entry point I_NetNameCanonicalize could not be located in the dynamic link library NETAPI32.dll' when loading the client..

you have FMS running on Windows Server 2008 R2 which is effectivley Windows 7 Server???

 

 

@sacrej - thats the error we got with both Win 7 and 2008 R2 - interestingly it was the same error in Vista / 2008 until we applied the FMSVistaFix001 patch (3 .dll files) but they no longer work for 7/R2

FMS is an instance there and is working ok.

No - Windows Server 2008 R2 is what we are refering too (Server version of Windows 7)

It is working on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.

I just checked 'cos I do have access to it even though I 'know nowt' (well not much anyway! )

we also have it running on Server 2008 r2 and have been for about 2 months.

 

It runs on SQl 2008 on it. Capita did the install i must admit but is fine.... (touches alot of wood)

im guessing that the server part not the client?

 

their sims server is on a seperate machine, i'm only trying to install the client.

 

i'm guessing this wouldnt run under app-v as a standalone package either?

I thought that the FMS client didn't like x64 so it won't work on 2008R2.

I think that is still the case Ric_... It certainly runs on Win7 x86

okay so now i've installed on 2008 sp2 32bit, things seems to be working but when we try to do a purchase order we get the error message:

 

Fatal Error: Unable to Load Purchase Order Processing. Please Contact Your Local SIMS Support Team.

I had this very recently. The user has to have Full permissions to the local directories that FMS is installed to (ie: c:\program files\sims.net\finance, or whatever).

IIRC there's also a file that gets written to c:\ (pdxousers.net or something). Run the FMS process whilst logged in as an admin first and you'll see the file get created.

You can move it within BDE admin, if you don't fancy people having write access to a file on root of C.

They are referring to running the client software on Windows Server 2008 r2. I will be wanting to move to that particular OS in the future as well, but until FMS and SIMS.net is supported on it, it is a no go. (We run a citrix terminal server farm for a good number of SIMS users, one of which uses FMS).
