sted Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 is it possible to get an apple to get its time from my 2003 / 2008 servers as they (or server and im never sure which as both are usually wrong lol) keep lousy time and it keeps blocking login 10.6 seems to be a bit more fussy wouldnt do owt till i had it within 2 seconds of the servers time

In an AD SSO environment your mac workstations should be using one of your servers for their NTP Server anyway. Yes Windows Servers are poor at keeping time and do they drift but as long as they all drift by the same amount then it should be OK. To change the NTP Server mac clients use launch System Preferences > Date & Time > IP address of your PDC. Antonio Rocco (ACSA)

The Mac's are all on the same subnet as the Windows servers, i.e. 10.22.60.*

I believe that Windows servers use the SNTP implementation of NTP which the Macs (and indeed most operating systems) are happy to work with.

Is there a way to put this into WGM, so that client machines are all time synced with the xserve which itself is synced to a Windows server? I'm not at the 'office' for the weekend, so don't have WGM in front of me, but I thought I'd ask as the question was in my mind so when I get back in on Monday I can take a look.
