gibbo_ap Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 has any one a vista iso they can stick on a web server for an hour or so??? i know its horrid but i have been asked to fix a member of staffs computer and i was in a good mood at the time. i tried xp but it failed to pick up the hdd and i have not the time nore patience this week to get around that. it has vista on its just screwed, but i long since lost my vista disk/iso. it has the serial on the sticker if you were worried about that. cheers

tmcd35 Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Also if it's an OEM license code then you will probably need the disc for that manufacturer and maybe even model. Regardless OEM keys won't work on FBP or VL copies, VL keys won't work on FBP or OEM copies and (as you can probably guess) FBP keys won't work in VL or OEM copies.

Quick fix might be to check in the BIOS to see if AHCI is enabled; if so, turn it off (may not be labelled that but you're looking for something that changes the SATA settings to IDE emulation or similar)
