ben_snclc Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Hi we have a resource scheduler management system provided by peoplecuble (formerly meeting maker). Everything is running fine and we have this on a virtual server running SQL 2000. We want to run off reports from the underlying database. I'm OK with this but can't connect through to the server using standard ODBC links from Access because of SQL Surface Browsing isn't enabled. Does anyone know how to get this working? I don't want to upgrade to server express 2005 if possible. Thanks,
Oops_my_bad Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 God only knows... but you do know SQL2000 is no longer supported? What's holding you back from upgrading?
SYNACK Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Can you not install the SQL 2005 or 2008 express environment on the server also and then use the "SQL Server Configuration Manager" tool to manage your 2000 server and configure it that way. Not the most direct way but probably the easiest, you will need to enable TCP/IP and make sure that the "SQL Server Browser" service is running I think. You may just be able to install the management tools from the later versions too which would be even better.
