Barcode scanner media booking system, does any one know a good package?

Hi There I need to stop theft in my department. Ive tried booking sheets etc with little success. I think that maybe a barcode scanner may be the answer. Does anyone know a good software, scanner and printer package.

depending how complex you want it you could probably buy a cheap barcode scanner and some stickly labels get a bit of software that prints them and just write a quick access database

I just need something to quickly and easily scan cameras camcorders in and out

Why not just use a security label and/or make note of the serial number on booking sheets? Get the person to sign a form too saying they are responsible for the hardware until it's handed back, otherwise they will be paying for any loss/damages.

Does your school still have a library/resource centre? Get friendly with your resource manager/librarian and ask her/him to manage them (aka entered into the library system).

Attach the barcodes to the kids and scan them when they take equipment. Simples!

tried it when im out the office its not done by my collegues or we dont know which camcorder is with which person. I just think a cheap simple barcode solution will make my life easier
