Spare Parts for Fujitsu ESPRIMO P3500

I work in a special needs secondary level school where we have two workstations that the boys have broken the front casing of the towers on Fujitsu ESPRIMO P3500 PCs - one they have broken the push and click lugs off of and the other have pushed the blanking plate for a floppy drive bay into the machine. as this is damage there is no hope under warranty so I'm looking for spare parts purchase to repair the cases - 2 new front panels or probably more to be on the safe side as reserves.

We had success buying fascias for a couple of Fujitsu-Siemens P2500 machines from the people listed on Fujitsu's own website here - I think a fascia was around £15 including delivery, which wasn't at all bad really.

I have not used them for some time but they were very helpful and used to supply Fujitsu parts. I understand they also bulk purchase returned schools IT equipment and hardware from a major supplier. May be worth a look.

Can you not salvage a blanking plate of the other case. Then you will only have one broken.

Thanks FN - we have 32 of these all about 2 years old; as it's damage it's not a warranty issue and the other machines are working fine and dandy at the mo!

I think he meant that as you only said you have 1 with a broken floppy drive plate, can you not take said plate of the other broken fascia that has different damage?

 

This happens to our machines from time to time, however I normally keep the broken ones as spares, given there will only be 1 part of it broken, and there are several other parts to the fascia that are still intact.

It's a bit of a cheap skate design, the plate is plastic only held there by 4 break away contact pioints -once the points have been bust out there is no way back.

 

Next time the school is looking to purchase kit I hope they include me in the buying process as these machines are fine and dandy for home use and in a primary school or a nice well behaved secondary but in my opinion not proof against the rigours of lads that are prone to kick off.
