dezt Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 We are looking at migrating to Joomla 1.5 from our old 1.0 site, I have found a few documents that tell me how to do the migration, and they all tell me to install 1.5 in a new directory and sql database. This is all ok, but I just have a bit of a question regarding what I do when i've gone through the migration. our domain name is nordenhighschool.co.uk, i will be installing 1.5 into nordenhighschool.co.uk/new, when i have finished the migration what must i do to get the new 1.5 site running when people just type in nordenhighschool.co.uk into the address bar rather than having to add /new after the domain name? Or is this something that will be covered in the migration? Thanks for any help.
Dodgex1 Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Set up a redirect. So all traffic to http://www.domain.com goes to http://www.domain.com/new We do it, Our old one was in an stmrc directory, Our new one is in stmrc15 directory. Just switched the redirect round for when the new one went live. If youre hosting externally on a hosting provider its usually done in your control panel, or your domain control panel. 1
Kamran7860 Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) You can do this with a simple htaccess redirect. Shown on this site: http://www.hostmonsterforum.com/showthread.php?p=21926&mode=threaded#post21926 Edited February 5, 2010 by Kamran7860 1
