Wake on lan issue

Right, this is very very frustrating now....

 

One particular type of board here which is a foxconn board using a Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit controller, this board, even with Wake on lan enabled in the bios and power going to the powersupply doesn't power the network socket once the PC is shut down.

 

Does anyone have any ideas what i can try to sort this? my first thought is a bios update so i will try that (just came to me as im typing this) any other reasons why this may not work though?

 

Every other PC in the school is setup the same, and wakes on lan perfectly, for reference, the first flash of the ethernet connection light comes at the moment windows begins to load

Bit of a long shot, but does the LAN card itself have a BIOS? Sometimes you have to enable this BIOS from the mobo's BIOS settings, there may be some setting in there that can help

Gone home now but ive done a bit of googling and i can't see anything related to an extra network bios, i know what you mean though i think as some of our other boards have something similar

 

The exact board model is: Foxconn 946GZ7MA-8KRS2H - Latest Bios revision

sigh...ive fixed it and i can't believe it was so simple

 

Network adapters > properties > configure > advanced > "wake from shutdown" to on

Then the power management tab and set "allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" which i had actually already done!

 

Gah kicking myself, i ever looked though that list i must have just glanced over the damn thing >_<
