I want to install shutdownertron to aprox 300 client machines

I have setup a group policy to deliver the install package to the machines. When testing this in a test OU, the product fails to install and I get the following error in the server event log:

Software Installation encountered an unexpected error while reading from the MSI file \\server\x\shared\shutdown\Shutdownertron-1.3.3214.1.msi.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Access rights. If you're installing as Computer make sure Authenticated Users have read access to the \\server\x\shared\shutdown\ folder.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have granted authenticated users read and execute access as suggested but still get the same error.

Make sure you've assigned the package via the Computer section of the GP (as opposed to the User). You then have to add the computer (or a group containing all computers requiring the software) to the Security Filtering section of the GP's Scope and remove all other users from the same section. In Details disable User configuration. This way the machines will install the software and not the users.
