Hey guys, just a quick message.

Me and a couple of other people from schools around the UK have been chatting on IRC and helping answer each others questions, and I thought you might like to join in.

There is a stand alone client here that will take you straight to the correct server/channel: http://www.theatomicedge.com/chat.html

(I will pay the $10 a month or whatever to remove the ads if I get enough interest)

Alternatively, if you have your own IRC client, we are on the irc network detailed here:

Server: irc.synirc.net

Channel: #EduTechiesUK

I'm AtomicEdge over there. Hopefully I will see you soon!

Why not chat over here instead - we've got better coffee :)

regards

Git, just installed ICQ just for old times sake. Probably haven't used it since 2000 and I'm digging through what looks like thousands of varying requests and messages for the last 10 years :D

Hehe - edit, funnily enough got a fella called Grumbledook on there :D You didn't used to play Quake 2 did you? ;)

Ahhhh I Seek You! I tracked my number down a few weeks ago but forgot my password. It's the problem with old accounts, you lose access to the EMail they were signed up on and you lose access to it forever. It was really good though. I remember a live chat thing they had and as you typed in the letters they appeared on the other persons screen without having to press enter. And offline messaging. :D

IRC is also good but not many seem to use it these days. Unfortunately it's also nicknamed Idle Relay Chat as you get rooms of people but nobody talking. Chatzilla FTW though. Or emacs. ;)

I am regularly in ~25-30 IRC channels, of which less than 5 I ever communicate in (quite bad I know, but by no means am I in a minority).

I went in this irc channel for a few days however there was barely any activity it seems. Shame really I suppose..

I just need to find a decent free IRC client again

pjirc is absolutely terrible :( unfortunately as our network has it's own specifically coded web client i've been spoiled, otherwise xchat and mIRC are the two most popular clients on the planet :D

irssi ftw though ;)

Yeah ... I did actually ... but not often with that name, I do have another handle or two.

I used to loiter around the LSpace servers for IRC when I did it a lot ... but work and life kept getting in the way (and I was not a regular poster to Alt.Fan.Pratchett anymore).

oh gawd... I used to do all sorts on IRC like running an FTP server for hooky copies of Office 97 and Paint Shop Pro 7 amongst other things.

I have 'matured' since then. Honest.

paint shop pro? wasn't that one of the famous WinZip style programs?

"You are on day 982 of your 30 day trial" :D

Tony: heh nice - personally spent nearly 10 years through Quake, Quake 2 and Quake 3. Surprisingly never got really good at any of them so took to running and helping out in leagues instead ;)

Good ol' days, and still like to have a bash at Quake Live every now and then - good way to relieve any stress that may have built up in the day! I'd recommend it to any edugeek for that reason :D
