I've renamed a folder of a VM to something more meaningful in the datastore. I tried booting the VM up but it won't work. I checked the configuration and it's pointing to the old folder.

How can I tell it to pick up the VM from the new named folder?

I tried looking for a way to import it to the inventory but there doesn't seem a way to do this from the File Menu etc.

Why didn't you just rename the machine in the client rather than mess in the datastore?

You can probably edit the correct file in the folder to point to the correct place.

Go to the datastore, and edit the "virtualmachinename.vmx" file, modify the feilds to meet the new name.

Or/ You could just re-import the machine using the same VHD.

Edit: Yes Plexer that is how i would of done it as well... but hey! :) lol

I renamed it so that it was meaningful. Having it labelled as S1 didn't mean anything to me and the NM forgot what S1 was about since he did the naming.

I remembered about the .vmx straight after my post. Thanks for replying. :)
