Samsung 160GB HDD - NTFS Recovery?

Hi All

 

I have had a PC come into me suffering with the click of death - before it died i imaged off the HDD using clonezilla - i now have an image of 27GB data that once i image it back to a fresh HDD comes up as an empty hdd... I think the filesystem records have basically been lost - is there anyway to restore these?

You could try conventional file recovery tools on the drive you've written the image to. Recuva and PhotoRec would the first ones I try, since they are both free.

I'm running recuva through it now - i was hoping that there would be a way of ruuning something like the windows xp recovery console or something but the windows disks i have wont boot whilst i have the hdd plugged in... grrr
