Reset Lamp Hours on Toshiba TDP-ST20

Anyone got one of these Toshiba TDP-ST20 projetors and changed the bulb and then managed to reset the lamp hours? I've changed the bulb, followed the instructions in the leaflet with the bulb (press up arrow on remote while turning power on, wait for beep after 10s, then press down arrow for a further 10s untill the next beep) but no beep and no lamp reset. Tried it don't know how many times now, made sure batteries in remote are OK, remote works, beep turned on in menu (can hear beep when selecting other items in menu so I know it works), any ideas?

 

Have done one once before and it was a nightmare then but just not getting anywhere. Looked on the net and suggestions of holding down on/input/menu on remote when starting did not work either. There are two 'service' buttons on the projector but don't know how to use them.

The solution is .....patience! after talking to Toshiba it looks as though the manual for the lamp is a little optimistic on the time to wait for the beeps. Done a couple now and the routine that work is as follows:

 

Change bulb

turn on projector

wait untill it starts up and light on projector is steady and ready to turn on

Press and hold the up arrow on the remote (from memory I think) and wait

Wait (takes up to 30 seconds or more apparently!) untill you hear it beep

(make sure you have beeps turned on in the projector menu!

Soon as you hear the beep, press and hold the down arrow on the remote

Wait (takes up to 30 seconds or more apparently!) untill you hear it beep

The lamp hours should be now reset and the projectro ready to use.

 

The above worked for me after many times trying it the bulb replacement manual way. Turns out it works just have to wait a long time for it to give you the beeps!
