hil Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 We have got Server 2003 and can not connect to the server via remote desktop and also we can get the log on screen on the console. We are trying to shut it down to see if we can connect after a restart. Can anyone help? Or has anyone had this problem before?
sippo Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 On the server, have you got the remote server box ticked?
AIT Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 is the box running terminal services as if it is you might need the remote desktop mmc console rather than remote desktop. is remote desktop enabled? (if not do it via remote registry) shuting it down: use command line "shutdown -m \\servername -s -t 00
hil Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 We have been able to remote into the server before but it just stopped working. We have tryed the shutdown.exe and that didn't work.

Guest drewinc Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 remote using the ip address rather than the server name ?
hil Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 I have tryed remoting in with the IP address and that just brings up the blue screen and sits there.
Firefox Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 the blue screen when remoting sounds like a resource issue on the server, which is generally fixed by a reboot (you may have to physically go to the machine if the remote command is not working). Also as well as remote desktop box being ticked, I assume you have given the account you're logging on with rights to logon via rdp?
hil Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 I have been to the console and the that is just the blue screen as well. The users that are logging on to the server have got the right to and they have been doing so for a long time. This problem has just happened.
