dave.81 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Just wondering if anyone on here is using School Guardian and using the built in secondary external inferface with load balancing? We are desperate for more bandwidth than out current 4mb line can cope with but cannot increase without going leased line. We have a second line running 1mb and was thinking about adding it onto our box. Guess my question is, is anyone using it and does it work as well as i hope?
tom_newton Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 It should allow you to balance web proxy traffic OK. Depending on load, I might be inclined to run, say, all web traffic on the 4Mb line and "everything else" on the 1Mb line. My general advice, would be to work out a plan, re-install schoolguardian on a test box for a while, and have a fiddle with the test machine "out of hours". Once you have it working to your liking there, you can reconfigure your live system.
dave.81 Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Thanks Tom, thats just along the lines i was thinking of. If it works well we'll upgrade the 1mb to 4mb but dont want to do this if it's doesn't work as we need. Test machine, of course, why didn't i think of that lol :)
