Veto the site - although it's now run by one of his relatives it's still his creation. Don't use it and encourage your staff to veto it as well. I'll be blocking it on Monday. Hope someone hacks it and blows it up.

I don't see the bit on the BBC website where it mentions that even though some teachers were aware of the allegations, they shrugged their shoulders and demanded access to Sparklebox, as without it, they didn't have a clue what to do.

I've just blocked this on both of our sites until I can discuss it with my line manager. While I fully understand why this info couldn't be released into the open there should be some way that independent schools could be warned in such circumstances.

I have no problem with Teachers using useful resources. It's the reprehensible attitude some of them have regarding Sparklebox even when told why the site has been blocked.

 

I also find it worrying that they rely so much on one resource.

IME it greatly varies from teacher to teacher. I certainly don't believe that they all spend as long with their teaching hats on as they'd like us to think.

A couple of my school's heads are pleased about it in one sense as they would rather the teaching staff carried out their responsibilities fully - the creation of artwork and resources for the classrooms etc is down to the teaching staff who they believe should be creating them themselves, or with help from the kids. The others just don't want anything to do with SB in the school.

Besides, there's plenty of other sites with similar resources.
