LOUD Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Under system events i'm getting this DCOM error. Don't know where to begin to fix this. Any help would be great. Windows Server 2003 Source DCOM Event ID 10004 DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. " and was unable to logon servername\Administrator in order to run the server: {3E2E4965-2518-40A4-A72B-95FCE2809D03}

srochford Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 From a quick google, I think the GUID {3E2E4965-2518-40A4-A72B-95FCE2809D03} is something to do with Sophos Enterprise Library - are you running Sophos? If so, is it configured to run as administrator and have you recently changed the admin password? If this is the case then you can either change the password used in the Sophos app to match the new password or (much better!) set the service to run with a completely separate account. 1
LOUD Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Cheers guys i got the problem fixed and now i have no errors in events now. It was to do with component services. went to DCOM config clicked on Details and looked for {3E2E4965-2518-40A4-A72B-95FCE2809D03} it was something to do with SiteSync UpdateDeployAllMiniTask. Dont know what it does but i changed the password in there and check events this morning and no errors. Thanks for the help anyway.
