cookie_monster Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Is there a way to backup and export the configuration of a 7110? I'd like it if I had the config so I could roll back changes or transfer settings to an identical unit. I can't see anything in the admin guide. Cheers.

Near the top right I see 'Initial Setup' and 'Factory Reset' buttons. Where should I see the backup button? Thanks.

Indeed it does Maybe it didn't appear untill a certain update as you can see we're on the 4/2009 release as we use iSCSI and it's a big change on later firmware. So, any of the current releases will give you this capability. As for the new iSCSI stuff that kinda came too in 2009.Q3 - sorry :-( 1

Anything that I need to be aware of?

If you can, however, backup your data before doing the upgrade (that's the old StorageTek in me coming out) has anyone else on here had "iSCSI issues" when going to 2009.Q3 ? Regards, Phil
apaton Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 It does loose the iSCSI initiator configuration during the upgrade. The way iSCSI initiators are configured is slightly different, just need to get your head around the changes. Andy

What am I likely to have to do after the update just resetup the iSCSI connections? Thanks.

Yes, in Q3 you have a new tab under "Configuration" labelled SAN. You need to define target groups and initiator groups. Target Group - iqn for storage (s7000) Initiator groups - iqn of hosts (Xen Servers) I would recommended using the S7000 simulator first just so you get your head round it. Andy

The Simulator is currently version 2009.Q2.0.0 (ak-2009.04.10.0.0 ) which you can upgrade to your version. FYI - I've had a torrid time in the past upgrading the simulator to Q3, this was due to lack of memory. When doing the Q3 upgrade raise the virtual machine memory to 2Gb. Also Phil Lawrence suggest running the following commands after a Q3 upgrade on the simulator only. confirm shell /usr/lib/ak/tools/akfixfru hardware.refresh() Andy 1

I've dug out an old Poweredge server with 2 Xeon processors and 1.5Gb RAM, Windows 2003, installed virtual box and attached the VHD. It begins to boot but then restarts repeatedly. Do I need more RAM or am I just missing some key settings? Thanks.

Chris I use the VB simulator on my laptop and when setting the host OS I change it to Windows 7 (thats what I am running on my laptop) and it seems to work fine... Maybe i'll give ESXi a try it just adds another app that I have to learn. I'm using the latest version of VB, i'll try setting the host to Win7 cheers Phil.

Sun support want me to run a couple of commands to troubleshoot an issue but i'd like to try it on the simulator first. I'm also going to get some practice with the CLi which I can access via putty.
