lionsl2005 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 one of our TA bought an Blu ray Rom and some one fix it. when he try to watch Bluray disk it says unsupported format error. Its a LG GGW-H2ol bluray re-writer. what might be the reason?
Michael Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 It could be a region lock problem. With Blu-ray some discs are locked to A, B or C regions, similar to DVD regions 1-7.
LosOjos Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 what software are they using to play the bluray disc? Currently there is no support in Windows Media Player for bluray, you'll need something like Cyberlink PowerDVD to be able to watch a bluray disc. You should still be able to open the drive in windows explorer and view the files though, if you can't then there's some problem with the drive itself rather than the software.

Its a LG GGW-H2ol bluray re-writer. what might be the reason? What application are they trying to watch it with? as you need something that can decode bluray discs to watch it. Some cheap oem drives will only have software for reading/writing data discs and not movie ones.
