Libraries are for books, not computers

Hi Mates:

Just got a new computer with win7 installed and so far I'm not to happy with the OS. First of all I hate the Libraries. When you're not on a network I can't see the need for them. I have found a couple of hacks to eliminate them by going into the register but so far I haven't been able to get them to work. One of my problems are trying to get permission and I am the admin. There was also a program that was supposed to do it automatically but that didn't work either. It said that it was installed successfully but the libraries remain. I am wondering if some of the hacks were for the early beta's and don't work on the newer versions. When I follow the instructions I am not seeing the same things that have been posted. Just wondering if others have noticed the same thing ??

Maybe you don't see the full benefit of how they can be used? Take a look at this guide :

There's nothing you possibly couldn't like about them other than "cosmetically" as mentioned above. You don't have to use them - you can link whatever you want to users\my videos \my documents etc.

 

Is that your sole reason for disliking the OS so far?

It is so easy to dislike something you don't understand.

 

Libraries are an excellent idea to organise files & folders instead of dumping everything in the default documents folder.

Sorry to be pedantic and all, but libraries are not just for books and by its very definition are a collections of any type of resource

 

Also the W7 libraries are very useful

Just had a quick look and I do like the look of libraries. Can't wait to finally get a copy of Windows 7.
