nickandcath Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 hi we have a physical box that is running mcaffee epo, but i suspect the hdd is about to die. I would like to put epo onto its own dedicated virtual server. So the questions: 1. Can i have two servers running epo for the short period of time, whilst i check the new one works then take the old one down. 2. am i going to hit any isswues doing it this way 3. is epo easy to install (i did not install the current one, so do not know.) 4. how would i then point the clients at the new server. thanks in advance nick
nickandcath Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 we dont want to do this as it also has loads of other crap on it. it is not a dedicated epo server. the one we will set up as a virtual will be dedicated epo thanks nick
DrPerceptron Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 McAfee Communities: ePO Server Move This should help you, It's possible but not a supported by McAfee action path... If you can get hold of Epo 4.5, you could upgrade your dying instance and install a fresh install - then you should be able to tell all the clients in the dying server to ask the new server for their policies etc and remove it after that. Moving them usually involves an agent redeployment - but V4 and V4.5 both have some relatively new features.
