[ubuntu] Installed website not working?

I have just installed Webman's classroombookingsystem on my working linux box that already has several sites on it.

When I browse to http://webaddress/roombooking I get a http 404 webpage not found error. Even though I have the roombooking folder in my /var/www folder and within that is an index.php page.

 

Do I need to add something to some apache config somewhere for this to work?

You've updated the config files, .htaccess and set the correct permissions for the folders containing the files?

.htaccess is unknown to me. I have seen it but never touched it (oo-er) I'm not sure where it even is!

Does EduGeek.net point to /var/www or /var/www/something-else-maybe-moodle?

I know this may sound silly but first things first....

 

have you checked the case of the folder your trying to access?

 

ClassRoomBooking is different to classroombooking in linux

I'm an idiot. Thanks, I had to put the roombooking folder inside my mahara folder on which was in /var/www I have forgotten this every time I have done this.

Case sensitivity sounds like a good call to me too.

 

The fact that you're getting a 404 tells us that the problem is likely to be with the directory rather than the index file within it. If the directory didn't have an appropriate index you would either get a file listing or a 403 Forbidden error, not a 404 Not Found.

 

Equally a permissions error would be more likely to throw a 403 than a 404.
