Wow, not thought of BBS' in ages. I used to frequent the Arcade BBS from my Acorn 3010. Amazing stuff.

 

Anyone remember these things from the Acorn scene?

 

Illusions Disk Magazine (run by an old friend of mine Kaustav Battacharya)

Doggysoft (www.doggysoft.co.uk) - a mate of mine coded Hacker and Desktop Hacker (Andrew Clover).

Acorn User magazine - never used to be on the shelves. Had to order it...

Risc User - private magazine (ooer) that had to be subscribed to.

ArtWorks and the company called Computer Concepts

 

I once got a program published on the disk of Acorn User :-)

I remember using Impressions for my ALevel write up. The school had Impressions Junior. People also used Pendown.

Them where the days. Spent a few years involved with The Arm Club, committee member for 2 or 3.

Ran a BBS for about 3 years (The Sidings BBS), firstly on my 4MB A310, then upgrade to a 610 RiscPC, then StrongArm..

 

Loved doing the shows, especially when they ended up being on back to back weekends.

I remember messing about with BBC basic on our school archies.

 

And I have to say RISC OS's GUI was very well designed, it was the most intuitive OS at the time.

I still have a RISC PC connected at home. Fully networked!

 

It was shame they couldn't keep it going. The UI was fantastic for schools.

I do miss my RiscPC, the case for it was before its time... adding the extra slices seemed so "elite"
