Projector hassle

Hi THere, I need to run two projectors from the same DVD player to oposite ends of our school hall. Any ideas welcomed?

Find a DVD player which has both composite out (yellow plug) and a SCART plug on it. Run one Projector from the composite out and the second projector from the Scart using one of those Scart-->Composite adapters.

 

All you need is some long Composite video cables which are easy and cheap to buy.

 

You can also split composite video signals using normal aerial splitters, although this can introduce interferance into the signal if you're not careful.

You need to convert it to lan as comp will not run much more than about 30mtrs depending on source less if you split it with no amp, so convert it to lan run cable to your location switch it back to coax you can if you want also send your audio over the same lan cable. Using twisted pair (lan cable) you can achive very long runs with very little loss of quality.

If the DVD and Projectors support HDMI/ DVI then I would suggest using a small 2x2 HDMI switcher, this will let you run the cables a good distance without signal loss or decreased quality.

You will probably get a longer usable run with composite. When digital signals start breaking down (over 15m you may be in trouble) they are unwatchable, rather than just going a bit fuzzy. I'd second the advice to go for a converter to a balanced cable. Something from this range should do what you need.

What distances are we talking about?

 

For a show at my school we needed footage from a camera on two projectors on stage. We had the camcorder running across 10 1m composite extenion cables where we had a £40 video to VGA convertor which then ran into a VGA splitter and across a 10m run and a 15m run to two projectors.

 

This worked perfectly without any loss or anything.

 

The final solution we used (to make conversion between a PC and the camcorder seemless) was taking the camcorder across the 10m composite run and into a tv tuner on the PC and then out through a dedicated graphics card and into the VGA splitter and then across the two runs.

 

Both solutions worked fine.

 

But what will work best for you will depend on the distance.

In the end i used a scart wireless transmitter thingy I bought in TESCO for under £20!! Worked a treat!
