Redirecting AppData folder

Just been reading the thread on mandatory profiles and thought about redirecting the appdata folder to the server (we already had mandatory profiles and redirected My Documents). Is there any prep work I would need to do before redirecting the folder other than creating a shared area for it and do I just add the path to the redirected folder list in AD, remember seeing the option once.

I altered my robocopy scripts when I did this, so that they skip over each student's Appdata folder - due to its depth and complexity, it massively increased backup time. Otherwise, it was just a case of setting the redirection in GP.
