danIT Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Im currently running Windows 7 using boot camp on my mac book pro, can anyone suggest the best way of going about sharing (Read and Write access) files between both O/S's?
sammya Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Assuming you've formatted the boot camp partition as NTFS, you will need NTFS-3G to write to it from the mac OS, it's free and available here NTFS-3G: Stable Read/Write NTFS Driver If you want to read and write to the mac partition when in Windows, you'll need some software like Macdrive which is commercial, Mediafour | MacDrive or Catacombae - HFSExplorer which is free but i've not tested it. If you have Snow Leopard, the 10.6 version of bootcamp supports read-only access of your mac volume from windows.

I'm uninstalling NTFS-3G right now. Thanks.

danIT Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) Ok I've got mac to bootcamp partition reading and writing. However, in Windows 7 I can see the Mac partition and I can see various folders however when I navigate to: MacHardDrive/Users/Username The directory is empty. But in OS X it contains files. Help plzzzzz Edit: There's a file called .xauthorative in the root of the Home folder, deleting this allows me to view the Home folder, its sub-directories, and all files. Apparently it gets created when you run X11 apps. So created a job to delete it when ever OS X shuts down. Edited December 4, 2009 by danIT Solution found
