apoth0r Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Hi guys, Just had an SLT guy pop in and he is having problems opening his Word documents from his memory stick. Opening word from the start menu and then opening the file from within Word itself works fine but when trying to open directly (double click on file) it comes up with the error; "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is opened" Any ideas? I've looked on KB and it mentioned something about renaming officeav.dll but as we dont have Norton installed its not there? Not quite sure what can be done at the minute, any pointers or advice from people who've had a similar situation would be very welcome. Many thanks
Mako Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Can't say I've seen the issue here myself, but there are a couple more KB articles revolving around that message. #1 - You receive a "The command cannot be performed" error message when you double-click to open a document in Word 2007 or in Word 2003 - regarding Word Templates (perhaps SLT use a letter-headed template?) #2 - You receive error messages when you start Word - Incompatible Add-ins. They may be of some relevance, hope it helps. 1
Michael Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Does this happen on just the one machine, or multiple machines using the same memory stick? If just the one machine, I'd recommend repairing Office. 1
apoth0r Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 Yeah it is just one machine, will grab the laptop off him at some point. It may also be a template issue. Thanks guys very appreciative
