Windows 7 - Wireless Problem

i recently upgraded windows 7 on my laptop but since then i can no longer connect wirelessly to my router its as if my laptop was never wireless. any clues!! any comment however insignificant would be much appreciated thanks

can you connect when you are wired in? if so, win 7 hasnt found your wireless drivers properly and you may need to install them from scratch.

yeah once wired in its fine but how do i re-install my wireless driver as they were already installed when i bought it i have not upgraded or re-newed it

you havnt turned the wireless switch off or disabled the network card amount of teachers who do this then swear blind they diddt is alarming

I've had two problems connecting to WiFi lately which I'll pass on just in case;

 

1 - I did what Sted suggested and accidentally disabled WiFi using the hotkey which is next to the hibernate key which I use all the time. There was no indication apart from the fact that I couldn't connect.

 

2 - Time on my router was out of sync with laptop. I had to connect over a LAN connection and update the time on the router which was more than an hour out. This sorted out the problem.

 

Presumably you are using WPA and have entered the correct key?

You'll know if it's a driver problem if there's a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark next to the card in device manager. Right-click on 'My Computer', then click 'Manage'. Expand the device manager bit. Look for the card & if there's a problem indicated, you probably need to reinstall the driver. You can normally download it from the laptop manufacturers website.
