Im at that point now, got it working on Workstation 6, but im behind a proxy... so it cant log me in :|

mikeglover Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Just get a black screen when I boot it up in Virtualbox. Any special settings needed for this VM? Doesn't sound good if you have to have the internet in order to use your computer. Can't see it catching on.

You can use the VMDK in virtualbox anyway.

Also Gears was all about getting Google Apps running offline. Would be silly to put all that work in and then forget about including it in their own os. Also there is no total web solution yet so an OS that could not function offlines would be useless.
TechMonkey Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 For those of you stuck at the login screen, just found that the username chronos with no password works. You can then get at proxy settings. Though not managed to change them yet!

I'm in btw but can't change the proxy... you click the change proxy button and it takes you to a webpage (which doesn't display as there is no proxy set!) but having been to the page it doesn't seem to help anyway
TechMonkey Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 From what I can gather it that is because the chrome browser, sitting on the chrome os, is trying to get the chrome os proxy, which there currently isn't a way to set. You can get to a terminal though by pressing Ctrl+alt+t. So if some Linux god knows how to set the proxy via terminal then we may be sorted! Tried the export method & that doesn't seem to work. gedit doesn't seem to work either.

Johan Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Does chrome automatically take a DHCP lease? I can't see it on any of my DHCP servers. I have made the proxy config changes, but it looks like it is isn't actually on my network. I had created a virtual NIC for them! I really hope/d google were going to make this easy & brilliant!
