Windows 7 bootup issue please help!

Hi

 

On my office PC I have been using Windows 7 for about 2 months with no issues. I was using it fine this morning but had to restart it but now when it boots up it doesnt bootup into 7 instead I get a screen which says

 

System Recovery Options.

 

1. Select language

2. Select an operating system to repair and click Next. (I clicked Windows 7)

3. Password

4. (Then the screen) SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTIONS which includes the options of doing Startup Repair, System Restore, Windows Complete PC Restore, Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool, Command Prompt, Recovery Manager.

 

I am quite upset because I have clicked just about everyone one of those and none can get me back into 7.

 

Any advice/tips would be most appreciated. I have run the memory diagnostic scan and that reported no issues.

I would use a linux live disc or bart pe disc ( bart pe disc if possible depending on if it supports windows 7 ) and recover any data you need backing up and then wipe and do a fresh install with latest drivers ( if you can find the correct drivers ) and start over

 

If there are any work arounds would be good to know but the easiest and less time consuming would be the above afaik but like yourself am open to other suggestions

Stick the Windows 7 CD in and let it get to the screen where you get to partition disk etc (Don't partition / format it obviously!!!).

 

Then restart your PC. Think the setup can do some magic with system files, but might be wrong.

Not impressed with the Windows 7 recovery. There's a lot more automated options now (so if you don't know how to run chkdsk, fixmbr etc it can do it for you) but there comes a time when you want to do a repair install. With XP that was easy - you just let the setup start, go through to a new install bit and it says "you've already got Windows installed; do you want to repair it". Wait some time and a magically repaired system appears.

 

I can't find any way to get Windows 7 to do this kind of repair; OK, you can just do a fresh install and it moves everything into windows.old so you lose no data etc but it's a pain :-(

ok panic over.

 

The problem was as my PC has built in RAID on the mobo, whilst it restarted, Windows lost connection for whatever reason with the raid controller. so it couldn't see the hard drive.

 

I went into the recovery section, and there was an option to load drivers. I loaded the RAID drivers, it then picked up the hard drive, it repaired it by running a scandisk and it booted up fine.

 

Phew Panic over!!! spent 2 hours trying to sort this issue out... how annoying.
