Recommending curriculum software

Hi all,

 

I have been given the task of investigating new ways in which ICT can be used in the classroom. The main aim is to obviously increase grades through engaging the students using ICT. Can anyone recommend some curriculum software that has really made a difference to your students learning experience? A short explanation explaining how would be great too!

 

Maths and Science are the main area we are focussing on, but all subject areas are being looked at.

 

We will also be looking into hardware, but I will post that in the hardware forum!

Staff don't really use anything special here in those departments that jumps out at me to mention. Might also be worth posting this on TES forums as i guess many teachers will have a good opinion on this. Maybe you could visit a school or two that specialize in Maths or Science also? They may have some good ideas too.

For maths we've used Mathletics with great success, they've now ended up having 1 maths lesson per week on the computers because of it. They also use it for homework alot.

Anything that is a SCORM compliant for the VLE. The use of the VLE has transformed how teaching is done in the departments where it is used.

Mathletics is incredible and the resources are growing rapidly.

We use Rosetta Stone for all languages inc French, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, Greek and Latin - expensive but worth it.

Both of these extend to be used at home, for homework or just for fun because kids think they are computer games - all the time you are collecting assessment data!

 

We use Espresso as well which is great though I'm not sure what the secondary offering is like.
