pooley Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 We have our OD/AD setup working fine, I use a Mac mini with OS x server installed to manage the desktops, printers, shares etc. Now I would like to start customizing desktop wallpaper etc, this doesn't seem to be manageable with the current/std prefs, is there a way of adding custom prefs to the osx server "Workgroup manager" ? Anyone have any hints/tips or links to docs/books I can read? Cheers Si
IT_Master Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Iv never seen this issue b4. ill keep n eye out.
jamesmay Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 When your managing the preferences of the group there is the overview tab and the details tab. If you click on the details tabs, you have the ability to define other preferences like desktop, itunes, microsoft office, in fact any app that creates a file in your ~/Library/Preferences folder. For the desktop your looking for a file called com.apple.desktop IF you add this you can change the paths of the desktops and properties that relate to it. I've made this movie to show you how i do it! Sorry its a zipped file but files sieze was a tad too big for what size mp4 i could uploadAdding managed pref.mp4.zip 2
pooley Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 @jamesmay thanks for taking the time out to make the video, helps me loads. Cheers Si
