Ok I've got one DC which is running short on disk space on the disk where the user areas are stored. On the other disk, thanks to getting a free upgrade under warranty (a disk gave a threshold warning) I have quite a bit of space unallocated on the other disk.

Am I right in thinking I could move the shared folder to the other drive and as the share name will be the same everthing will work? (In theory)

//server/RMUsers

Or is this a really bad idea.

If you move the folders about it will deactivate the share(s) so you would need to re-instate them after the move. But other than that I should think you would be ok.

tec article TEC396812 on rm website might help

"Each RM share (i.e. the share that is configured at server installation) has an associated registry value, which gives information on the software or the updates installed on the server where the actual folder is located. If any RM share is moved or deleted, its registry value is not automatically updated. Therefore, later updates may try to access this share via an incorrect path, resulting in errors and/or installation failures."

Thought there might be something deadly like this. Although my reason for thinking this was along the same reasoning as _bob_'s idea.

Anyway it seems bossman is right I was getting mixed up D:\ can be extended it's C:\ that can't as it was originally created on a basic disk.

is this D:rmusers$ if it is then you can extend the volume as it should be dynamic.

Yeah ours isn't much better either. We try to keep as much stuff off C as possible due to the limit; 2.8GB free on one server and 4.2GB free on the other.

There are a lot of logfiles on there in the RM folders that can get very large, and we also found it useful to move the pagefile off C and onto D.
