Canon Scanner Driver

Hi all

 

I have been running W7 x64 for a while now and finally got around to trying to install my scanner. It is a fairly old device (a n67OU) and I can't seem to find a 64-bit driver for it anywhere.

 

Never needed anything better as I only use it for scanning in utility bills etc. Is there such a driver available or is it time to bite the bullet and buy a newer one?

 

Any help will be much appreciated!

Not sure if this is much use but if you can get a hold of either a vista x64 or xp x64 driver and see if either of those works ?

Thanks, but I can't seem to find any x64 driver for it whatsoever - not even one for a model close to mine!

a virtual machine with xp on it ?

 

short of that ive found that you can use vuescan which doesnt require the drivers from canon

Starting to think about doing this actually. Just wish there was a "simple" solution. It may come down to buying a new unit!

 

My parents have the same scannner and I'm going to be upgrading them to Windows 7 soon, and trying to get them to run a virtual machine is so unnecessary and will just cause me more headaches!

I tend to use only Mac where I can help it so know all about that! :-)

 

Would just be handy to have my scanner installed on my W7 laptop as well. And of course, when I upgrade my parents machine, it's a definate need!

Found a few comments stating to get them from the USA canon website ( maybe using 32 bit or 64 bit )

 

It only states 32 bit on the usa website but not sure if you tried the 32 bit drivers ?

 

Also the driver installer is it an exe or msi or what exactly ?

 

Just wondering if you could go to the properties of the installer first and put it into xp compatability mode possibly ?

If the driver is 32 bit then running in compatibility mode won't work. Unless I am horribly mistaken but I have always thought that x86 drivers would not work in an x64 enviroment.

my thoughts as well but was a long shot, think on 64 bit it has a 32 bit i386 directory and a 64 bit directory for dll's, ocx and system files etc ( I think )
