[clonezilla] Vista Sysprep

Hello, i'm deploying vista in a classroom for the first time and i see the sysprep process is a little different than XP. I've created the image so how do I go about sysprepping it ready to deploy with clonezilla? The way I read the documentation is that i have to sysprep before i install all the software in audit mode, is this correct? Don't say I have to start over .

Get the pc set up the way you want before you sysprep it. Sysprep will change the SID and shut down. you then image it and deploy it out. On reboot it will go though the sysprep process.

I was worried about having to enter a cd key etc. over and over again but I tested the image after sysprep and shutting down, and it's all worked fine. Never mind eh

If you have a VLK / KMS then you are fine for keys. If not you are playing with fire!!!! be careful and make sure you are with in the terms and limits of your license.

Sounds just like we do with XP - how is it different for Vista?

To create an answer file for vista you have to go through WAIK which I'd never heard of before. I guess it links with WDS or something.

Correct. Vista / 7 use scripting for an answer file. Windows Vista Deployment Step-by-Step Guide

one more thing... if you have vista / 7 and have a centeralized key that is provided by M$ make sure you specify if you are using a kms or not. (key management server)

 

Failure to do so can be a pita.
