We are trying to use a resource on the British Library website called Sounds Familiar?

Sounds Familiar?

The map loads and we can pick a dialect to listen to, but the embedded windows media player doesn't play the sound file, and the mms stream won't load in windows media player either.

We are a school in the CLEO network using a Smoothwall UTM-1000.

Seems that it is related to CLEO, anyone else in the area able to load the audio files?

The BL are using Microsoft's [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Media_Server]MMS[/ame] for serving those audio files.

I suggest your problem lies in the firewall side of things, rather than web filtering.

In particular I would look into TCP port 1755 first.
