Hi Guys,

 

Am i wright in saying that WSS only allows for a stadalone install using the internal datatabse (SQL EXPRESS 2005), so if i want to use of a lincense copy of SQL i would need MOSS. Therefore the limitation of using WSS is that you are limited to 4GB database and fewer features.

 

Feed back is greatly appreciated

I think that you can upgrade the database to a normal sql installaion, (this is what i have just done with our moss one)

Just remeber to change the directory of the command prompt to your cd/dvd drive with the sql 2005 standard / enterprise in.

 

this all worked for me.

Just to confirm that you don't just need to stick with SQL Express.

 

If you select the advanced install when you first install WSS you get the choice of internal SQL Express (which is actually unlimited in storage capacity) or a seperate SQL instance (which can be Express or full blow SQL Server).
