How To Cold Reset HPK850 Printer

We have a HPK850 printer in the school with a admin password set on it. We dont know what the password is so need to reset the printer. I cant find any documentation on how to do this, would anyone know how?

HP Officejet Pro K850...? Manual here. Can't see a reset, but it talks about changing it using the embedded web server (settings...security). Does that work...?

 

(Could also try printing out a network configuration page, which looks like it includes it - press Cancel while holding down the Power button.)

i can get on the embedded web interface no problem, but its password protected so if i need to be able to change the hostname and if i ever want to change the ip i cant until i reset the password, so need to reset it.

i know how to do that but i want to change the hostname and the only way i know to do that is by going through the embedded interface which is password protected. I've even used Web Jet Admin which looks as if it lets me change or remove the password but then when i go to it again the password is still there so thats why i want to completely reset it to factory defaults.

On page 46 of the manual (see link above) there's an illustration of the network config printout which should include the administrator password (under "Miscellaneous").

just got round to checking and it prints out and just tells you whether or not the admin password is set or not, not what the password is.

 

So im still locked out of the thing

there is a SNMP hack that you could use to gain the admin password. I can't remember it off the top of my head but I'm sure that google can help

Use a dictionary attack on it using hydra or similar. I have some word lists if you need them.

I'm afraid I can't think of a single solution except trying to contact HP tech support.

 

The only thing I can think might work is to try a firmware upgrade or re-apply and see if that has any effect.
