I have a slight problem..

We have ranger and GPO's onsite and one of the main security features is file download is disabled... yet students cannot open documents in Fronter because the title says" File Download" Open Save..

But Ranger and the GPO are blocking this... is there a way to allow students to open files from Fronter without allowing the school hackers finding out that we have allowed file downloads just so Students can open Documets from Fronter?

If you dont click on the file itself but click on the grey arrow you can select download and it will use the ActiveX downloader. A pain I know, but it is Fronter after all

why not allow downloads but then block the use of certain file types such as .exe?

Can you block RAR, bin etc and where would you block this ?

yep, you do it in group policy. have a search round plenty of threads about it.

What is the issue with allowing your students to download, as long as your systems are secured enough it should be no issue.

Games and emulators, SWF files that will be shared as the websites are blocked etc etc
