My head is looking after the staff accounts obviously. This is the first day that it's been used properly. My head has been getting alert group 1 emails when people log on, saying they have tried tampering with the client. When ive asked one of the members accused she said that all shes done is click accept to the AUP. Im wondering whether there is something thats happening at boot up thats looking like an attempt to stop it. It's in stealth mode and the users dont have access to the taskmananger. Any ideas?

I think you've answered your own question really. If users cannot use Task Manager, how can they possibly tamper with any process? Even logged on as an administrator, you cannot stop the process. Only using the Policy Central console can you change/remove the product.

 

I'm 99.9% positive it'll be a Policy Central configuration issue and not a staff issue. In the past Policy Central caused major problems with IE and apparently v3.0.0.8 is experiencing problems with Sophos. As you're working in a Birmingham school there's a high probability you're probably using Sophos too. I think this problem is going to be forever ongoing with Policy Central which is why (I personally) would never of recommended the product.

 

It's great in principle but in practice it's creating more and more problems...

Yeah, ive heard of the problems its caused. We checked Sophos when i had the guy in and he's told me what to do if there is an issue.

 

I knew it wasnt a staff problem, just wondering if there is something i could turn off somewhere to stop the constant email to the head, or if anyone could explain what it was that was convincing PCE that people were attempting to stop the client.

 

We're due an ofsted inspection, so the head was adament we had it.

 

I suppose we could turn off the tamper warning....
