Joomla and EMBC

Hi,

 

I've built a joomla website for our school and all was going correctly until we uploaded it to EMBC servers. I have editted the config file to point to the new database directory but it just wont have it, i just get the following message:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

 

Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

 

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

What am I missing?? Why wont the bloody thing work??

I take it is working OK on a local install?

What you could try is using Joomlapack to backup your site and database and install on your webspace.

We are with EMBC and have come across this problem when installing a new module or component you could try disabling all the modules to see if you can view your site and then enable 1 by 1 until you find the problem

I had the website up and running on a friends server whilst i was building it and had no problems.

 

I uploaded it all and it just wont go. I dont understand it!

 

How do I go about disabling the modules?

Does it let you at the backend?

Disable the components in Extensions>>>> uninstall >>>>>components

Modules just disable them extensions>>module manager

Nope cant get into the admin side of the site. any extension i put after the domain i just get the same error page

i ftp it to my machine here then re uploaded it then extracted the database out and installed it in the embc side then editted the config file to point to the db in the right place.

 

I've also tried to reinstall joomla on the site but it seems like the permissions aren't correct for it to write the new config file at the end

It may be permissions if you look at the attachment you need to make sure those directories are writeable.

what I did was create the configuration.php in the root of your site and make it writable before you install joomla

Ok but surely (and correct me if i'm wrong) i shouldn't need to reinstall joomla if it was installed on the previous server?

 

If i get EMBC to change the permissions on these folders then reinstall joomla would you say that will do it?

Thats Correct! along as you have moved all the files and created a new database and user importing you database into the new one and changing the config file to reflect this.

 

You can change the folder permissions in plesk if you have access
