What Wireless Access Point?

I need a Wireless Access Point so Sport can take registers in changing rooms/hall.

 

I bought a cheap little G AP which shows a signal all the way to the side of the hall doesn't seem to actually work that far.

 

Also there's a problem getting the signal in a changing room but can get the signal outside it at the opposite end to where the AP is.

Now I think that the changin room is acting like a faraday cage but I've been tasked with getting a more powerful AP anyway to try get a signal there and if not at least working across the hall.

believe me, I didnt think we would need ruckus, but my god how wrong was I. Simon got his people out, did us a cracking quote and have been happy since! Have yet to have a major issue. Best money spent in honesty!

Don't bother with cheap home access points, as everyone has said here they are so bad compared to the comercial solutions.

 

We have an aruba controller and AP's and they are amazing.

 

We used cheap transmitters for many years and can't believe the improvement from a proper managed system.

If you did just want a single access point, if this is the only place that is going to need wireless coverage, then i'd go with something like a netgear WG302, i've used these in a couple of schools and they are very reliable.

 

If you you need coverage for an area that 1 or 2 access points wouldn't cover, or are going to have more than about 5 wireless clients, then you really should look at a managed solution as mentioned above.
